Keilwerth SX90R Tenor Saxophone - Black Nickel Plated/Gold Keys
A great sax for players wanting character and individuality.
A fully professional instrument with a tone reminiscent of the old Conn and Buescher saxes of the 1940s and a stunning look.
Description
Keilwerth's signature finish - black nickel plating with gold lacquer keys and inner bell. Black nickel plating is more than just a look, it's an additional layer of resonant metal that adds some extra clarity to the tone.
A few SX90R features that set it aside from it's competitors include:
Rolled tone holesĀ - The rolled tone holes perform like miniature bell flares enhancing sound projection through every tone hole. They also give a softer feel and prolong pad life.
A larger bell and bow sectionĀ - up to 30% larger giving the sax itās characteristic BIG sound.
Adjustable palm keys ā many players are dissatisfied with the fixed position of palm keys and fit risers to compensate.
G# key lifterĀ - so it never sticks ā solving the most common saxophone problem.

Review
The SX90R is long established as one of the World's best saxes...and just a little different from it's main competitors. While others followed the French route, Keilwerth developed along the more vintage American lines of Conn & Buescher. The end result is a sax that feels a bit bigger in your hands - well, because it is! Don't worry, you soon get used to it and the benefits in sound are literally huge! To hear what a Keilwerth can do have a listen to Dave Liebman, James Moody, Nick Brignola, Ernie Watts, and Kirk Whalum.Ā Phill (Sax.co.uk)
